Bio

As a career coach, author, and speaker, my mission is to support individuals and teams in making more effective career choices and more sustainable career plans. I work with careers across generations, from graduate students looking to land their first jobs, to genx and boomer workers over fifty looking to redefine and sustain their careers beyond traditional retirement. Starting with the notion that our ideal career is already inside us, I advocate a more personal-growth approach to career development, vs the traditional HR skills-based paradigm.

See the link below to my current LinkedIn Learning course, "Managing Someone Older Than You," a program for younger managers to successfully onboard and collaborate with older colleagues.

We are entering a new era where mid-life career shifts are embraced as opportunities by both workers and employers. My book, "Boomer Reinvention: How to Create Your Dream Career Over 50," outlines 5 steps and 23 strategies to successfully recover from losing a job, strategize a re-entry into the workforce, or develop a plan to start a new business. It’s all about finding your fit based on who you are and what value you provide, not by squeezing yourself into someone else’s job description. The book launched on CBS This Morning in 2017 and became an Amazon bestseller. I was also honored to be named one of the "Top 50 Influencers on Aging" for 2017 by PBS/NextAvenue.

Getting fired 39% of the time in my own career taught me how to turn setbacks into successes. Coupled with a counseling psychology MA that I earned when I went back to school at age 50, I have dedicated my own second act to putting my experience, insights, and tools to work, and to make a difference in people’s lives and careers.

In addition to my coaching practice, since 2010 I have been co-running an innovative, Los Angeles-based graduate Entertainment Management program for Carnegie Mellon University. Questions? See my website, send me a message, or just connect!
