Justin Johnson

Justin Johnson is currently Senior Director of Engineering for Trilogy Education Services with over a decade in management where he leads a fully remote international team of developers architecting an EdTech Platform as a Service using Go microservices and serverless technologies, Student facing User Experiences using React, DevOps and custom Salesforce Integrations. Within his first year at Trilogy - Justin was able to establish processes, teams and a codebase that dropped Trilogy’s application error rate from 28% to less than 2% all while increasing usage volume.

Prior to joining Trilogy, Justin was Vice President of Front End Architecture for Bank of America where he and his team focused on converting Bank of America’s primary web ecosystem from a Java based monolith to a static site powered by Node APIs. It was at Bank of America that Justin taught his first class for Trilogy Education - and fell in love with their mission and values.

Before Bank of America - Justin worked as Sr. Manager of Business Operations for Lowes.com (after starting there as a Sr. Front End Developer) where he was responsible for front end development, business operations, site outage communication/resolution & day to day production defect management.

Prior to Lowes - Justin spent 6 years working in a web development agency (Edreamz in Charlotte, NC) honing his developer craft - with everything from Actionscript, Coldfusion, PHP and ASP.net building content management systems, ecommerce platforms, marketing sites and video players all while learning how to shift an entire company from table based layouts to using CSS for layouts.

In his spare time you can find Justin spending time with his wife, coaching his 3 sons in baseball, working on his history podcast or volunteering his time by serving as Chairman of the Iredell County Crimestoppers board
